Clare Kuhn

Clare Kuhn

Clare Kuhn is a Master’s student in the Chalfoun lab, studying habitat selection and behavioral thermoregulation of a thermally-sensitive habitat specialist — the pygmy rabbit (Brachylagus idahoensis) — in Wyoming. Clare grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Drake University in 2024 with a B.S. in Zoology and Conservation Science with a concentration in Animal Behavior. Her prior research experience ranges from devising ethograms for captive zoo animals (e.g. Amur tiger & Bactrian camel), white-tailed deer population surveys, and black bear population monitoring. Clare is most fascinated by the ways animals respond to and mitigate the effects of human-induced rapid environmental change (HIREC) through changes in their behavior and ecology. Outside of her research, Clare enjoys hiking with her dog, drawing, and horseback riding.
