New research: Genetic relationships of Wind River burbot populations

Zack Underwood, along with Elizabeth Mandeville and Annika Walters, published a component of his masters research in Hydrobiologia. The study titled “Population connectivity and genetic structure of burbot (Lota lota) populations in the Wind River Basin, Wyoming,” uses a genotyping by sequencing approach to look at genetic relationships between natural and reservoir populations of burbot in the Wind River Drainage. They determined that populations were naturally isolated from each other, with increased isolation resulting from several man- made barriers.

Zack Underwood is a recent masters graduate under Dr. Walters, and Elizabeth Mandeville is a PhD candidate in the University of Wyoming Botany department under Dr. Alex Buerkle.
