Embere Hall and Jason Carlisle, both PhD students of Dr. Anna Chalfoun, were among students recognized at the annual Department of Zoology & Physiology Awards Ceremony held May 1, 2014 on the University of Wyoming campus.  Embere was awarded the Reed W. Fautin Memorial Scholarship and Jason was awarded the inagural WEST / Lyman and Margie McDonald Research Award for Quantitative Analysis in Wildlife Ecology.

The Reed W. Fautin Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Professor Reed Fautin, one of the first ecologists to join the University of Wyoming faculty.  Professor Fautin was a member of the Department of Zoology & Physiology faculty from 1946 – 1973, and this award is meant to recognize an outstanding student with interest in terrestrial ecology or wildlife management.  Embere is honored to be the 2014 recipient of this award.

The WEST / Lyman and Margie McDonald Research Award for Quantitative Analysis in Wildlife Ecology is a combined award available to students in the Departments of Zoology & Physiology and Statistics.  The research award is made possible through the generous support of WEST, Inc. and Lyman and Margie McDonald.  WEST CEO Dale Strickland and his wife Paula, and WEST co-founder Lyman McDonald and his wife Margie presented the inagural 2014 award to Jason Carlisle.
